There’s a new luxury townhouse available in Miami Beach, and it can be all yours for just $16.9 million. The two-story residence is located at the Setai Resort & Residences and is said to be the only unit with a direct beachfront view. The 3,627-square-foot home features two oceanfront master suites, a guest room, media room, four bathrooms, and 1,000 square feet of terraces.
The owner, Doug Rogers, is a well known digital sound engineer and founder of Los Angeles-based Eastwest, according to an article from The Real Deal. He purchased the unit in 2010 for $4 million from the developer, who left the space in a “raw state” with concrete walls and floors. “We went all out on the construction, doing something really modern, minimalist, and we consider more art work than a typical real estate development,” Rogers said. He apparently invested “millions of dollars” designing the space, which he created for spec. “ He designed the home with the help of CREA, an Italian design firm and general contractor MAG Development.
Using his background in sound engineering, Rogers created an entertainment space in the all white living room, which features 18-foot-tall columns and a system of rounded glass walls facing the ocean. He also added double ceilings to soundproof the unit. Additional features include hand-installed mosaics in the bathrooms, terrazzo floors, a cantilevered glass staircase, custom-designed white lacquer cabinetry, three covered balconies, and a multi-media theater.
Rogers also owns three homes in Los Angeles and one in Palm Springs. “I’ve done quite a bit of real estate and remodeling,” he said. “We usually find something that has fantastic features. We’re typically looking for waterfront or an incredible view and then you can justify spending a lot on the build-out because the rest of it is there. If it doesn’t have view, then an incredible location.”
