In 1960, legendary Boston Red Sox left fielder, Ted Williams, purchased a home in the Florida Keys to pursue a hobby in sport fishing. He lived at this home, located in Islamorada, for decades, becoming a bit of a local celebrity. According to a recent article from the Wall Street Journal, a street near the house was even renamed “Ted Williams Way” in 2000. The home, built in the early 1950s,sits on 1.72 acres is going on the market for $4.2 million.

There are two homes located on the property, which also includes about 100 feet of frontage on Florida Bay. Mr. Williams’ former home features four bedrooms, an office and approximately 3,200 square feet of living space. The current owner, Mark Richens, has also renovated the home to include an infinity swimming pool. The second property, a three-bedroom house that includes a gym, was purchased by Richens for use as a guest house.

Ted Williams was famous for spending his entire 19-year career with the Boston Red Sox and is considered one of the greatest hitters to ever play the game. He also earned respect in the angler community and was inducted into the IGFA Fishing Hall of Fame. He passed away in 2002 at age 83.
