Miami Beach may be getting a new hotel brand, pending the results from the latest meeting of the city’s Design Review Board. The new Own Hotel brand has proposed a four-story hotel, filed by Harding Excalibur LLC, a subsidiary of Miami’s Spider, led by Andres Goldenberg. The concept of the hotel is meant to attract millennials who often book through online sites like airbnb.
According to a recent article from the South Florida Business Journal, Goldenberg claims that they “will provide a comfortable price for a well located hotel.”
Many hotels in the area are either very high-end, and out of the price-range of many travelers, or low budget, some with even lower standards. The developers of the Own hotel had this in mind when creating the concept for their new hotel.
“As developers,” Goldenberg said, “we want to offer a trendy concept in which you can have a boutique hotel, highly comfortable and medium rate.”
The location of the proposed hotel is at 8011, 8017, 8021 and 8035 Harding Ave., and is currently home to three, two-story apartment buildings. If approved, the 22,000-square-foot site will house the 44-room hotel and pool, as well as 22 parking spaces. In an effort to keep rates affordable, the hotel will have few amenities and will not include a restaurant.
Spider, who acquired the site for $5 million in July 2015, also has boutique multifamily projects in Miami’s Edgewater and Midtown communities.
